I may be overly eager and exaggerating just a bit, but it seems I can add “international art instructor” to my list of accomplishments! Okay, so it’s definitely an exaggeration, but let me explain. Using Skype video conference program, I gave a 20-minute interview and instruction session to the art class of Mehmet Saim Bilge in Ankara, Turkey. Mehmet approached me about speaking to his class after finding examples and information of my digital caricatures online.
With the aid of a translator, Deniz Kandemir, I answered questions from the class regarding the beginning of my career as a caricature artist, how I developed my art into a thriving business, and the techniques I employ when doing digital caricatures. I even gave them an example of my work when I used an iPad to create a sketch of Mehmet. It was so fun and exciting to share my story with the budding young artists of Mehmet’s class and, hopefully, inspire them to follow their dreams and let their artwork flourish.
Here is my interview to watch on-line.
