Creating Tradition
I absolutely love what I do. As the old adage goes – “if you have a job that you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” There’s nothing I don’t enjoy about creating art and entertainment every day. Sometimes, though, I have to put away the tablet and pull out the pencils and paper. Being able to do just that recently at two events was wonderful.
After a seemingly never-ending stretch of traveling and drawing digital caricatures, I came home and reconnected with my artistic beginnings at the Gettysburg Springfest and Mother’s Day Art Day at my church. Creating art with the traditional media is a truly “organic” experience. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of pressing pencil to paper and letting the lines and curves flow. The technology that allows me to create digital caricatures, however wonderful and sophisticated, cannot mimic the feeling of pencils, pens, and markers scratching against paper.
