Go Green Penn State!

Posted on May 6, 2010

On Tuesday, I was invited to entertain at a conference at Penn State Main.

I arrived early to spend a day of fun with my son, then attended this fun convention full of engineers to help colleges and universities go “green.”

I worked 19 years with an engineering firm as a Cadd technician, so being surrrounded by engineers (all male) was very comfortable to me. We talked about windmill farms, other engineering projects, and, what else….caricatures! :) Our conversations and my drawings brought so much energy to the room! A big thank you to Woolpert, along with everyone who sat in my chair!

Take a look at the fun that was happening at Penn State!

Students fascinated with Live Digital Caricatures!

Posted on May 5, 2010

Monday was a day (6 classes) filled with bright, fun students eager to watch my presentation about caricatures and cartooning, with my 21″ Cintiq tablet, screen/projector and macbook, along with the NEW iPad caricature demo.

In every class, after my videos and hands on lessons, I pick students to demonstrate exaggeration and cartooning a person, LIVE. All hands go up, when I’m ready to pick another individual to draw into a fun cartoon-like character.

The art teacher at this school, Diane, really does a great job with her students and she prepares all her students to pay close attention to my presentation. Thank you Diane! I look forward to next year!

Hot Cartoon Artists!

Posted on May 2, 2010

Three of Philadelphia’s “most exaggerating” caricature artists, lots of paper, and an endless supply of amazing faces. This can only be the recipe for an exciting and wild day under a very warm summer sun!

When I say “most exaggerating,” not much can explain the reactions from those in attendance save for a few impromptu photos taken over more than three hours of sheer laughter.

You can see the cartoon likeness dripping from the ink from not only my own creations, but from John Sprague’s and Pat Harrington’s pens.

I’ll let the pictures do the talking:

Ram Jamming at P-U!

Posted on April 30, 2010

I had the greatest pleasures drawing fun cartoons with Mike and Pat in the sunny, yet chilly, day at the Ram Jam fest at Philly U!

At the last minute, the college decided it was going to be outdoors, so we set up our easels under the tree, in the shaded area where it was a quite “chilly and breezy.” Luckily I brought a jacket and I had a blanket to cover my legs.

What’s great about having 3 artists with 3 different styles, the college students get to line up for a variety of fun cartoons. All three of us had a person sitting in our chair and a crowd behind us watching and laughing.

I hope to do this threesome again real soon!~wink!
Thanks Mike!
Here are only a few pics I had taken, due to being cold! :)
