Meeting my Clients, the Lacombe Police!

Posted on July 27, 2010

During my stay in Canada, Kelly and I planned to meet up with another Canadian artist, Cathy McMullin. On the way, we made a stop to visit the Lacombe Police. I am currently designing many cartoon characters for the station, so it was a pleasure to meet the faces that were behind many emails. Even the dog will be made into a cartoon character, too.

I really look forward to drawing many of the faces for their play cards, books and more. Thanks Nicole and Gary!

Using Cartoon Characters for Business and Commercial Use!

Posted on January 15, 2010

I recently had one of my favorite clients return for another business order.
(There must be something in the wintery air for all these recent cartoon orders!) :)

These caricature/cartoon character designs have been telling a great story for their line of business.
I always did SAY that cartoons catch people’s attention and they DO!! What better way than to have a cartoon designed for your business.

After completion of my final cartoon, this company emails the image to another company who makes cardboard characters out of high rez image files. When they receive the cardboard cut-outs, they display them for their business meetings and more. What a GREAT idea!

For each design, I receive several photos of the person along with the character information to help me with their thoughts and idea for the character.
I draft out a B&W cartoon-likeness image for my client(s) to review for revisions and move into color after approval.
This type of design costs more for it is being used for commercial/business purposes.
Here is the rough draft along with final. Thanks again Laura!

Group Caricature – 12 people

Posted on October 30, 2009

A few weeks ago, I received a big order for a 12 person hunting/fishing design for a company calendar.

Even though it is difficult to create many into one drawing and keep a nice balanced composition, I, however, love the challenge of creating these group caricatures.

I was very fortunate that my client had asked me to make it a hunting and fishing theme, sent close up head shots of everyone and left the design up to me. I finally finished it! Thank you Tony!

A Cartoon that will bring you business!

My past client, who ordered a business cartoon from me a few months ago, emailed me a photo of her van with my finished 3 person cartoon image attached to the side for her “Brain Freeze” business.
How cool is that?

Thanks Cheryl!
