Ram Jamming at P-U!

Posted on April 30, 2010

I had the greatest pleasures drawing fun cartoons with Mike and Pat in the sunny, yet chilly, day at the Ram Jam fest at Philly U!

At the last minute, the college decided it was going to be outdoors, so we set up our easels under the tree, in the shaded area where it was a quite “chilly and breezy.” Luckily I brought a jacket and I had a blanket to cover my legs.

What’s great about having 3 artists with 3 different styles, the college students get to line up for a variety of fun cartoons. All three of us had a person sitting in our chair and a crowd behind us watching and laughing.

I hope to do this threesome again real soon!~wink!
Thanks Mike!
Here are only a few pics I had taken, due to being cold! :)

A Univers-ity with Exaggeration!

Posted on November 17, 2009

Today I joined another artist, Joyce Edwards, to draw fun caricatures for a University. Joyce has really come a long way with her caricatures and she created a very nice, clean style for the students, while I exaggerated and got a bit goofy with a few students (they were loving it, believe me).

I love working with another artist with a different style so the students or guests are given a choice.

At this event, many of the students were getting in line for a caricature from both of us.

Harrisburg Area Community College Caricature Entertainment!

Posted on September 16, 2009

The great gang at Harrisburg Area Community College’s Lancaster Campus had a perfect day to celebrate. While reports were for rain, we had nothing but sun and a gentle breeze for most of the day. Towards the latter part of the event, some clouds rolled in, providing the students (and artist) with some shade. The fun was there, the rain was a no show.

As soon as I setup my TreaselTM, students began to gather around. Some wondered what this woman with a space age tripod/easel was about to draw. Some wondered if they could get the chance to sit in the chair opposite of this artist. Some just wanted to watch their friends be transformed into exaggerated cartoon caricatures.

The interactive gallery below is just a small sample of the many students who were drawn in my Traditional Caricature style. The students at HACC were great. It’s a small campus, with only 5,000 students, so it was like drawing at a large family party (very large family!). Many thanks go out to Lauren and everyone else with the SGA who worked so hard to make the day run so well.

Caricatures on T-shirts!

Posted on September 3, 2009

Yesterday was a great sunny and cool day at a University located north where the beautiful huge mountains of PA can be found.

I was requested to draw caricatures in my black and white style onto T-shirts for the students.

I have drawn on t-shirts many times before, but this time I found a very reliable marker that works well with material (t-shirts) AND after drawing a few “heads only,” I decided to test the waters with drawing my full body cartoons. Would you believe I was drawing one full person INTO A CARTOON on a t-shirt in matter of 5 minutes? That includes placing the t-shirt on my board and clipping it down! I actually surprised myself with my speed and keeping decent and clean line quality, while drawing on t-shirts.
Thank you Steve and Andee! Thanks Andee for taking these pics for me and arranging the T-shirts!

Also, I had the pleasure of meeting for first time AND drawing next to Chip Mock, a fun cartoony style caricaturist! Together, we had many students laughing and having a good time.

Here are a few pics, including first two of Chip and his fun art work!
