Using Cartoon Characters for Business and Commercial Use!

Posted on January 15, 2010

I recently had one of my favorite clients return for another business order.
(There must be something in the wintery air for all these recent cartoon orders!) :)

These caricature/cartoon character designs have been telling a great story for their line of business.
I always did SAY that cartoons catch people’s attention and they DO!! What better way than to have a cartoon designed for your business.

After completion of my final cartoon, this company emails the image to another company who makes cardboard characters out of high rez image files. When they receive the cardboard cut-outs, they display them for their business meetings and more. What a GREAT idea!

For each design, I receive several photos of the person along with the character information to help me with their thoughts and idea for the character.
I draft out a B&W cartoon-likeness image for my client(s) to review for revisions and move into color after approval.
This type of design costs more for it is being used for commercial/business purposes.
Here is the rough draft along with final. Thanks again Laura!

Junior Idol 2 Singing Competition!

Posted on January 12, 2010

Our local mall is having their 2nd Junior Idol show, starting in February. Last year we had 66 kids try out for the first night that we had each sing their song for 2 minutes. This year, we may extend into another try-out night, if we receive a large turn out again.

Once again, Scott and I are booked for this special event. He is our great MC and I am judge, along with creating the poster designs and more.
I wanted to create a design (digital) that will catch the attention of mall shoppers. :)

Here are the dates of the shows, but they could change, due to weather.
Feb 2, Feb 9, Feb 16, Feb 23, winner announced Mar 1st

Featured Favorite Facebook Fan December!

Posted on January 1, 2010

Well, I am one day late, so I can account this cartoon to be my first cartoon design for 2010.

Teresa Nordheim, from Puyallup, Washington, was my December pick on my Facebook fan page.
She is a children’s author and illustrator and she works with children.
Therefore, I created a fun cartoony illustration to fit Teresa’s cartoon character design.

NEW! Plexy Glass Cartoon Designs!

Posted on November 13, 2009

Lately, I created 2 designs and I’m working on a 3rd design of my idea for my plexy glass/cell cartoon designs.

Have you ever run into a person that is hard to buy a gift for Christmas, retirement, birthday or other?
THIS is THAT PERFECT GIFT for THAT person who has everything!

This type of design takes a little bit longer than creating a caricature image and involves more materials and art media.

As you can see below in the photos, the person is first created into my fun, award winning cartoon style, then the background theme is created for the theme and printed onto canvas, the top layer of the person is printed and painted carefully on plexy glass and/or mylar. All images are carefully aligned, and matted separately into a frame.

Pat Harringto has pink skin and he is an artist who draws very loose with scribbly lines. I kept my design pink with crazy designs and set my opacity low to make it lense dense so his front image can pop out.

The image of Obama is 3 layers, the backdrop with newpaper articles made into a colleague image, along with white house (for his teeth). Obama was painted on mylar and Obama’s teleprompter was painted faintly on the front glass and aligned and framed.

Please contact me, if interested in this unique creation at ajtoons@gmail.com or call my studio at (215) 948-ARTS (2787) for information and price.
