I Love Lucy Marathon!

Posted on February 8, 2010

I noticed on Saturday that a marathon of the “I Love Lucy” shows were playing throughout the whole weekend.
Between working on my orders and personal art work, I was able to watch and enjoy many of Lucy’s funny shows.

Lucy is one of my favorite female comedians of all time! My son, JT, (and my husband) have mentioned many times how I remind them of Lucy. My husband evens calls me a “Ninny” over some of the funny and odd things that I do practically everyday.

Here is my cartoon design that I did of the cast and I have hanging on the wall in my hallway, along with my Beatles cartoon design and other art.

Number 9: Beatles Gone Retro Style!

Posted on September 5, 2009

9-9-09 is nearing ever so close. And in a tribute to the one of the top selling bands of all time, I’ve created The Beatles in my Retro Digital Line Art.

This Beatles caricature was created entirely on my 21-inch Cintiq (if you’ve never seen one, it is like a souped up iPhone, minus the phone), this design strives to capture each of the fab four in classic 70’s style, as I felt I could mix the wild linework of the 70s with their personalities and my clean Retro Digital Line Art.

I love being able to create. While I sometimes go back and look at my older work so that I can improve, spending time ‘training’ myself to constantly improve, I still find it more rewarding to create new artwork instead of being stuck in the past.

Please share your thoughts on this new creation as we all celebrate the big news this week!

Update: Well, no Beatles on iTunes, but plenty of Remastered Beatles albums out. And thanks everyone for so many numerous complimentary comments on the Beatles cartoon design.

Digital Caricature of Celebrity Alec Baldwin!

Posted on August 19, 2009

For some reason I have been giving myself a challenge with my own studio digital caricatures. I picked a subject that started out being a person who is, in my opinion, hard to capture a likeness.

Keep in mind that I never know a person is hard to capture, until I give it a try. Every caricature artist crosses this path once in awhile.

I was going to move on (give up) and try a different celebrity, but I wanted to face my challenge and accomplish my goal to capture his likeness.

Here is my digital results of Alec Baldwin with his Hulu alien.

Let me know what you think.

Digital Cartoon of “I Love Lucy” Cast!

Posted on August 2, 2009

A few months ago, I drew my favorite female comedian and icon, Lucille Ball. In the meantime, I dabbled at the rest of the cast, here and there, and finally finished my digital cartoon piece today.
This took awhile, so I hope you can enjoy!
