post Let’s “Play” in Philly!

June 29th, 2008

Scott and I had a wonderful time in Philly, staying at Loews Hotel, dining out and attending the performance of a well-known play called “Les Miserables.” (a Christmas gift to us from relatives)
What a great story in this play!!!! I loved, loved loved it!
I absolutely was mesmerized by the lead actor, Jean Valjean, and his pure sounding voice!
He captured my attention every time he sang a note!
We downloaded the CD from Itunes (original cast from London), but I actually preferred the voice of the Jean Valjean in the Philly play, named Hugh Panero, more than the original singer on this CD.

Here are photos of the evening. It rained a bit and it was a hot and sweaty night, as you can tell in second photo.

The next day we took a walk through the park around the Tower of Liberty and then we attended a very good friend’s party in Jersey, and I drew a few cartoons for her guests, while Scott did a little strolling magic.

post Caricatures into the night!

June 27th, 2008

I type with my head nodding, as I didn’t get much sleep, since, into the wee hours of the morning I was drawing at a gig with three other good caricature artist friends.

I’ll only post a few drawings from last night, since I’ll probably doze off before finishing the post! *grin*

post College Event and a fundraising Ho-Down!

April 27th, 2008

For this college event, the lines were so long, so I only took limited photos and tried to stay away from shading (if possible).
The students were great and very intrigued with my work and want to request me back for next year!
I suggested having 2 artists!
Also, something odd and different… I was tapped on the shoulder to report to the dressing room for a famous rapper, but I had to decline the offer and run off to my next event. I’m not 100% sure of the rapper’s name, but I believe I heard the name Rozelle. That’s was a first for me!

post Caricatures Bodies-Color-Fast!

August 13th, 2007

This client enjoyed collecting caricatures and I recognized the work of many artists hung throughout his house. It’s nice to see a client appreciate the different styles of many!

Too bad my one photo (bottom) is blurry, but if you can see this, I have him with his dog in his huge hand! He and his guests really had a laugh over his request to be drawn with his tiny dog!

I love a challenge and many of these requested themes were a challenge, but this helps me develop my skills for fast bodies and quick thinking.
