post Live Digital Caricature Event!

September 30th, 2007

My OWN huge LIVE DIGITAL event and the crowd went crazy over this, along with my popular cartoon style! If you are wondering about the white boxes I used to cover parts of the drawing, that’s due to an NDA.

My son talked me into going to Dorney Park for the evening, and I’m glad I made time to do this! It was a great dose of medicine for me! I even made time to have another caricaturist, Chris Chua, go crazy on a very Cool caricature of me! Thanks Chris!

This photo was taken last Friday night of my favorite lil fuzzy named Corky (ferret).
He almost did not make it in the beginning of September, but I helped pull him thru his rough weekend and so far, so good. He’s running out of time (old age and illness) but I am still enjoying him!

Scott and I thought the photo was funny, so I thought I’d post!

I really want and need to work on the “bulging eye” effect with those type of dogs.
Even though I did a good job and the clients loved their drawings, I felt “Not up to my best” on this event. Not sure if it had to do with weather or me!
Oh well, every artist has days like this!

Although… the line kept growing as I surprisingly heard another person whisper behind me “She’s really good!” I heard the word “Disney” (again), and about 3 times, so not sure what people were saying about me this time.

All I can say is I keep getting the work, so I must be doing something right! ~wink~

post Trying out Gouache for 1st time!

Last night I hung out with my artist friend Missi and her daughter and tried my new gouache set. I always wanted to work with gouache and it was what I expected. Missi was teaching me a few tricks with the medium.

This was just my first step. I plan to contrast it some more tonight, especially Missi’s shirt and face, and plan to work with this medium some more.

post A Golf Character Creation!

September 19th, 2007

I just finished a rush job on a design for a “Sign” of a new joint opening south of my state. My client loved my quick rough draft, so I finished the color tonight (same day) and I await the next word for any minor changes to my golfer dude.

Client mentioned that I may design another character(gopher)to finish this same sign-design and, of course, I look forward to doing this!
woo hoo! I’m loving this type of artwork!
It brings out my creativeness!

I actually forgot that they (local papers) took this photo of me at the town’s festival a few weeks ago.
I came into work today and one of my co-workers left the article on my desk!

post Crystal, my childhood friend!

September 17th, 2007

Filed under: personal — Angie @ 8:52 am

Sunday, I managed to slap on makeup and an outfit to attend my cousin’s Bridal Shower and to my surprise, Crystal (my cousin’s cousin, whom I spent a part of my childhood with, was waving her hand at me! In our younger days, we hung out for many fun times together, like swimming at the Bluey (a pit hole in Frackville) when those Secada flies were flying in our path and we were screaming, chasing my younger brother away (he liked Crystal), and just taking turns sleeping over each other’s place.

I can remember a time when I went to HER school for a day, with written permission.
I almost got her in trouble while she was taking a test. What can I say, I get bored easily. :)
Now that I think back, it was really strange to walk into another school for a day and attend classes and meet strange kids my age, just to hang with Crystal! Weird!
I wonder what my parents had thought. I cannot recall.

I remember flirting with a cute boy named Rich, and later having a few small “movie” dates with him. He was the cutest boy in C’s class. At that time, I was afraid of getting close to any boy and I believe I was only around 16 yrs old!! Imagine that?
I think he may have tried to kiss me and I broke it off! Blech…boys!
but…I loved to flirt and still do! :D

Crystal is STILL Gorgeous as ever, she’s sooo full of fun and has a big heart, too!
She is FAR from being superficial and fake like many I witness or acknowledge today!
She’s a real TRUE friend. They are hard to find!!

I am SO looking forward to the wedding at end of Oct and catching up some more!
